Flexible Working Arrangements

We have policy of flexible working times that allows our employees to choose their own weekly and daily working hours. Any combination of hours is possible. We decide on a working arrangement with each individual employee that best suits their personal circumstances.

Part-time work

Only half of our employees work full-time. The rest work part-time, ranging from an 8 to 35-hour week. Some of our employees prefer regular working hours (for example, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.), others even vary their hours daily. Unconventional working hours, for example, evenings or at weekends are also possible. Some employees work full-time for a few months and then take a break.
Whether full-time or part-time, the actual working hours may occasionally vary from the arranged times.

Two-way flexibility

In the same way that Comet provides flexible solutions, flexibility is also expected from the team. Many IT projects are large with strict deadlines. Sometimes, projects require employees to work longer hours. This is an accepted fact. Therefore, Comet's employees are always prepared to cope with any situations where time is limited. Any over time worked during a project is either paid or employees can take the equivalent amount of time off.

Implementing flexible working hours

The following points are crucial for the success of flexible working hours:

  • All employees are highly qualified and willing to and capable of working independently.
  • Cooperation is a must.
  • Employees decide for themselves whether or not to take on a project and what tasks they will be responsible for.
  • Everyone considers for themselves whether they can take on more work given their current workload.
  • Heavy workloads are not permanent. They generally last for two to three weeks, at the very most two months.

Advantages for all involved

Flexible working hours benefit both the employees and company.

  • Part-time employees are given work that matches their qualifications and involved in interesting projects requiring highly qualified work.
  • It is possible to return to work with social provision, without neglecting family.
  • Employees are highly motivated because they usually work on projects that they have chosen themselves.
  • Individually defined working hours increase efficiency and allow work and private life to be combined harmoniously.
  • Absences are rare.
  • Periods when there are fewer projects are compensated by flexible working hours, which increases the productivity of the company.
