Pioneering Work and Innovative Concepts
In the social sphere
Comet, with its vision of combining family, private life, and work harmoniously, was one of the first German companies to not only openly declare a policy of creating flexible working arrangements, but is also one of few companies today that continue to look for new methods and solutions that support this objective. This innovative company policy has always been especially popular with women, who finally see the chance to pursue a career and still meet family commitments. By offering new working arrangements, Comet has set an outstanding example in achieving gender equality at the workplace. Comet is involved in many projects that encourage young women's interest in technical professions.
In the IT world
Diversity
While, even today, some product documentation is still being produced by the product developers, Comet caused a sensation back in the 1980s when it presented its interdisciplinary team with the aim of developing user-friendly documentation. This completely new concept, which is still a topic of debate today, naturally includes developers and programmers in the process. In addition to IT experts, arts and humanities graduates are increasingly being brought in to create documentation and training courses that are not only factually correct but which also have strong didactic and communication aspects and a good linguistic style. In addition to professional diversity, Comet also benefits from a cosmopolitan and polyglot environment. People of different nationalities who speak different languages work side by side, successfully completing not only national but also international projects. Elsewhere, diversity may be a topic of discussion, whereas here at Comet, we enjoy the advantage of experience. For more than a decade, the company has demonstrated its diversity in many areas of its daily business. In the process, the accumulation of knowledge about different cultures and industries gives valuable impetus to our work and is then implemented to the benefit of our customers.
Information architecture
The computerization of documentation has led to previously unthought of ways of optimizing the creation, maintainance, and management of documentation. However, it is important not to view single documents as separate entities, but as integrated parts of their document environment, as just one building block of a whole documentation landscape that has to be managed. In recent years, Comet has developed strong capabilities in the area of information architecture, which is based on this holistic approach and considers a company's entire documentation landscape as a successful interplay of the most varied components. In this way, we design and implement software-supported solutions and adapt them to meet customer-specific requirements. This also includes form management and electronic documentation management, as well as database links and online solutions. The demand for information, the diversity of information types (whether media-specific or content-related), and limited time frames all demand more effective software concepts; while the market has only just recognized this, Comet has known for a long time that information architecture is the solution.
In the arts
Technology is important but it isn't the be-all and end-all. The arts make an important contribution to society. Comet supports artists in various ways. We support young actors and the projects of young theater directors, we buy the works of young artists to display in our offices, and we hire performers to provide entertainment at our events. If possible, we try to involve talented artists and musicians in technical projects, such as the production of a CD. Through their work for Comet, artists have the opportunity to establish a secure basis for their livelihood, giving them the freedom to work creatively .
