Director Closs fonded Comet Computer twelve years ago together with Michael Kusch. In 1997, Markus Abt, one of the company's leading software developers, was also made a co-owner. having previously studied computer science at the University of Saarbrücken and the Technical University of Munich, Prof. Closs set out to do things differently from the start. Perhaps unusual for someone with a technical background, she attached great importance to a balanced relationship between professional and private life. The Managing Director's ambitious equal opportunity strategy for women and men did not in any way hinder the commercial success of Comet Computer. On the contrary, in 1994, the company was awarded first prize in the European Technical Publications Competition sponsored by the Society for Technical Communication. Many awards have since followed. With an annual turnover of DEM four to five million, Comet Computer is now an internationally prominent name in the technical documentation and software development market. Its list of clients features many high-profile firms such as AT&T, Oracle, Motorola, BMW and Siemens. The company's activities focus on developing customer-specific software tools for managing information, and on writing and translating technical documentation. With its outstanding reputation, the company is often called upon as a consultant for other companies and to develop training programmes. Closs hereself is also a popular speaker at international conferences and other business events throughout Europe, owing not only to her know-how in the field of information technology, but also to Comet Computer's unique personnel and working hours structure.
